Jayne Carino-Burke

April 18, 1971 – February 4, 2014

On February 4, 2014, Saint Patrick's School lost a well-respected, dedicated and loving member of our school family.  Jayne Carino-Burke passed away after a 14-month battle with cancer.  Jayne taught at Saint Patrick's School from September 1996 to November 30, 2012 when she was first diagnosed with cancer.

Jayne taught 2nd, 4th and 5th grades during her time with the school.  Jayne had a love and respect for all of her students, and they loved and respected her in return.  She considered each of them as “her kids”, and could not wait to see them each day.  She was enthusiastic in teaching her students, had a love for science, as well “The 80’s” and introduced the music of this time period to her students.  Jayne recently wrote a letter to the students of her last 5th grade class.  She ended the letter with the following sentence: “Be good, have fun, work hard and remember to smile and laugh!”  No doubt this was Jayne’s philosophy to life.

Jayne is survived by her loving husband, Chris, and adored son, Michael.  She also survived by her parents, Nancy & Frank Carino, brother Frank and his family, as well as extended family.  Please keep the Burke and Carino Families in your prayers.  (Jayne's mother is St. Patrick's Mrs. Carino, who taught 3rd grade.)

On Saturday, February 8, a beautiful funeral mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's.  Many of her former students came to pay their final respects.  Jayne will be missed.

Eternal rest, grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.  May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.  Amen.
