Andy Lawrence

2013 Saint Patrick's Parade Grand Marshal

and so Much More

This year the Ancient Order of Hibernians honored our fellow alumnus, Andrew W. Lawrence, Jr. by naming him the Grand Marshal of the Saint Patrick's Day Parade! It was a fitting honor for an alumnus who has served his Parish and community well.

Andy moved to Huntington at the age of seven with his parents Dr. Andrew W. Lawrence and Coral M. Lawrence. After graduating from Saint Patrick's School in 1959, Andy then attended Chaminade High School and Marquette University.

Andy was a decorated Marine Captain in Vietnam. After leaving active duty, he returned to Huntington and attended law school at St. John's University. He continued to serve in the Marine Reserves, serving as the Acting Commanding Officer in the Halesite Unit.

Andy has had a distinguished career as an attorney. He has served as Senior Assistant District Attorney of Suffolk County, Special Assistant District Attorney of Suffolk County, and as a Partner in the law firm of Toaz, Buck & Myers. He has also served as general counsel for many clients, including the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, the Visiting Nurse Service, Huntington Hospital, and various area villages, fire departments, and public libraries. In addition, Andy has served on the Suffolk County Bar Association's Grievance, Ethics, Court, and Criminal Law Committees. Andy presently serves as the Prosecuting Attorney for the Village of Huntington Bay and maintains a private practice on Green Street in Huntington.

Andy has been very active in his community, serving on the Board of Directors of Huntington Hospital, The Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce, the Family Service League, the Huntington Historical Society, Huntington Housing Help, The Townwide Fund of Huntington, and St. Johnland Nursing Center. Andy has served his Parish through his work on the Parish Council. Andy has been a recipient of Huntington Hospital's Teddy Award, the Visiting Nurse Service's Man of the Year Award and he has twice been honored by the Townwide Fund.

Andy, and his wife Pam, live in Huntington Bay and are the proud parents of three children, all of whom attended Saint Patrick's School, A.J. ('83), Kerry Anne (Ross) ('88), and Brendan (’98). Andy and Pam have been blessed with five grandchildren and are awaiting the birth of another.

Andy has stayed in touch with many other St. Patrick’s School alumni, most notably John "Jay" Cavanagh ('60) and Andy Schmitz ('61) who were his aides at the Saint Patrick's Day Parade.

Andy’s five siblings, Peter, Victoria, Barbara, Carl, and Patricia, are also St. Pat’s alumni, as is his sister-in-law, Charlotte M. Lawrence (nee Penza) (’70).

We are thrilled to feature an alumnus who has been so active and supportive of our School, our Parish, and our community. We wish Andy all the best in the future and look forward to seeing him at upcoming alumni events.
